The Rainforest Attractions at El Tigre

A few miles from the Pacuare River on the rim of the Pacuare Gorge, the village of Bajos El Tigre offers unexpected options for visitors and community members alike. Businesses created and run by local residents, thanks to funding by a generous grant from the South-South Cooperation Program, are creating new opportunities for sustainable development and tourism in this small town.

Butterfly Garden	Orchid Garden
See 12 species of butterflies up close in a lovely setting with a habitat created for maximum enjoyment by both butterflies and visitors.	Native Orchids and hybrids usually found only high in the rainforest canopy are visible in this casual, shaded setting.

Tilapia Farm	Serpentarium
The Tilapia farm is made up of four containment ponds designed to efficiently use water resources and provide food to the town and visitors.	Learn about the strikingly beautiful and dangerous snakes of the rainforest. See over 10 species of snakes, including two boa constrictors.

Internet Cafe	Hydroponic Garden
A 3G Network in the jungle offers great communication with the wider world and increased educational opportunities to the community.	The Hydroponic Garden will provide healthy, organic vegetables for the village using sustainable, eco-friendly farming. It will be a revenue source through sales to nearby eco-lodges.
