The Serpentarium at El Tigre was created out of Carlos' long-time interest in snakes. Since a young age, he had been fascinated by them and taught himself how to handle them.
Serpents Up Close
One of the most deadly snakes in the collection is the fer-de-lance, French for 'Spearhead'. This snake the most dangerous snake of Central and South America, and causes more human deaths than any other American reptile. On average, a fer-de-lance injects 105mg of venom in one bite. The fatal dose for a human is 50mg.

The serpentarium houses a number of snake species native to the surrounding rainforest including Boa Constrictors and Eye-Lash Pit Vipers.
